No MIPS support in the new release? (or shX?)
Bleh. I smell another developer preparing to leave the hpc world.

Don't forget to have a read through my front page news posting on this, SoftMaker gave Factor some exclusive info there.

The lack of MIPS support is a surprise, but they went through hell to get SHx support in TextMaker 2002 - and the vast majority of people needed ARM/XScale.

Hopefully we can convince them to keep 2002 available for SH and MIPS users (assuming nothing changes between now and RTM... you never know, thousands of MIPS H/PC users could write in and request continued support

I think SM will leave HPC market too. if it wasn't so, how can you explain that PPC users still have MIPS and SHx while we are left out in the cold?

Hey, I take offense. 6651 users will suffer more than MP users. After all we have a *real* display on our machines. TM documents look great and are easy to manipulate when you have some real estate at hand

But seriously, I don't get it. Support for MIPS PPC but not HPC? Can anyone name a *modern* (post PPC2000) MIPS PPC other than the Be300? Or a Shx PPC other than the Jornada 54x series?

Oh well. We can always try hacking the PPC versions to work on our platforms.

Here's hoping Softmaker host their Nov 11 deal again this year. It may well be the last chance for hpc users to buy for their platform.

ok, ok, don't shoot me.

If you're concerned, write to them. If they get enough commitments from H/PC users to buy, may be they will go through the pain. The H/PC and ppc user different compilers, hence different problems. There really isn't any collusion going on here.

May be I should take offence at you saying my H/PC doesn't have a *real* display - you could be implying something!

... or for those of you who think of me as a Hard ball Admin

<irish accent>
You wouldn't be saying bad things about Jornada's there now would you laddie?

... I didn't think so

yes, i don't get it either, an intermec 6651 is surely much more advanced than a BE300 (to correct you: there was not only the BE300 but the E-1xx series too) or jornada 525...
if you're lucky you'll need only aygshell.dll. the current ppc version works ok with aygshell. no surprise as they have a hpc version too. but this is why you can't be entirely sure it will work in the future too..

and yes, you shouldn't say half vga hpc's don't have any real estate! hvga is really good for most of the tasks, much much better than a crappy qvga ppc. though i'd be more happy if it was 640x320, then we wouldn't need nyditot for ppc apps

or is it a mistake there? anyway 500 Mhz MIPS (and AMD!), sounds interesting

ok, it isn't a real hpc, but runs hpc OS

Hmmm. what's with softmaker and ebay?

canadian law sez if you're willing to sell it for X using method A you have to sell it for the same price if selling it another way. there are exceptions to this rule but generally you can't ask one group to pay more than another if the product/payment/delivery are basically the same.

Here's hoping for a blowout on Nov 11.

ya ... next thing you know, you will have them put it on eBay (BIN) for same price as their website ... or maybe a clause to require Canadians to pay same price!
