I want to be able to display my laptop PC screen on my CE6 netbook. I figured the easiest way would be to take the Video Out from the laptop and shove it into a USB Video Capture Device. I assumed a VCD would present a "web cam" interface to the host, so I just bought one of these:

Sadly, plugging it into the CE netbook does nothing.

Are there any generic drivers available for such devices?

Failing that, any other suggestions for displaying a remote screen?

Not sure of your need or reason to do this, but do a search on this site for PCAnywhere or VirtualCE. These programs allow remote operation of a pc from the CE device...but if you only want the video stream and not control, then maybe someone else has an idea....

And as far as those programs working with CE6...another unknown.

As to your USB video capture device...no CE drivers that I know of or similar product.

The question about a WebCam driver has been asked before:

OK, another thought...

I've noticed some threads about Remote Desktop. Is it possible to connect to my Windows 7 Home Premium PC from the CE device??

There's a way to fool XP Home into thinking it's XP Pro and thus make RDP hosting possible (though I haven't tried it yet). I don't know if it'll work on Win7, though.
