I hope I am posting this in the right forum

I have just purchased a Dell Axim X51 and a Socket CF card 5P Class 2 Barcode Scanner. I have the handheld in the cradle, connected to my PC. I have the Socket installation CD inserted. When I am attempting the installation, I am told that I need to first install CE services. When I attempt to download this, I am told that I need Activesync 3.8. When I try that, I am told that due to compatability issues I need the Mobile device center, and on and on......

I have very limited technical knowledge, but if someone can guide me in the right direction, I would appreciate it.

Windows 5.0 is the OS on the handheld, and Vista is on the desktop.

Thanks,
Greg

Greg, this website is primarily for clamshell type handhelds that use Windows CE, not pocketpcs. While you are welcome here, you will probably find the info you need at a site the tailors itself to pocketpcs. Suggest you ask your question here: http://www.aximusers.com/forum/index.php
