When it come to flashing your Mobilepro 900, you have 3 choices. You can flash HPC2000, the factory standard CE.NET 4.2, or the Cmonex v2 roms.

Well, I have all 3 of the bin files on a single CF memory card, and have been manually renaming them in the past to use the one I wanted. I guess I could have simply used 3 memory cards and put a rom flash on each one of them.

But I took another approach. I have all the BIN files on one card and wrote a small simple program that lets me easily select whichever ROM I want to install. It is really simple code, and I just pop CF card into my desktop machine and run it from there. Anyways, all it does is copy one of my BINs to another bin on the card, renaming it to XIP.BIN in the process.

It is attached to this post for anyone who might want it...along with screen shots of what it looks like and the source code in Visual Basic.

Do you know if it's possible to flash the Mobilepro 900 via the PCMCIA slot instead of a CF card? The ebay auction I won of 3 mobilepro's said one of the machines locks up when you insert a CF card... But without having received a CF card yet, I have no way to actually test this.

This Linux guide does actually mention PCMCIA so I'm figuring it would probably work. But I wanted to see if anyone could confirm?

Yes, you can run the updater from either the CF or PCMCIA slot with adapter...it looks in the CF slot first and the then PCMCIA slot next...I've updated many 900 machines that had broken CF slots...

Awesome, looks like I will need to get a PCMCIA adapter too!
