| If by 'chip' you mean the ROM; no. |

| Because it is...
1. Soldered onto the daughterboard and there is no like alternative
2. The hardware that supports it is specifically written to support that cpu...voltages, timing cycles, etc...
3. Even if you were to have a theoretical alternative on paper, it would be cost prohibitive to manufacture
4. Cause Alt Bass said no |

| Actually C:Amie said no
The even shorter answer to this question is: Round peg, square hole. The 720 ROM board is designed for the 700 series, nothing else. |

| Try starting a new thread in the hpcBay section of our Forums to ask this. Your question has nothing to do with changing the internal hardware of the 720. See Rule 6 of our Forum Rules:

| I'm pretty sure though I read somewhere that someone got a 728 chip on a 720/... |

| That was a full swap of the motherboards between a 720 and a 728. |

| That's a inter-700 series transfer, square peg, square hole. Aside from having larger RAM and a couple of extra patches on the ROM, the OS is the same. |
