| Hey, I was just wondering—is it possible to disable (ie uncheck by default) emoticon insertion into forum posts, kinda like how the same can be done for signatures? The reason I did not post in the forum request thread is because I'm not entirely sure it can't be done via the settings, though I did give them a once-over..
I don't mean to disable emoticons forever, I just was looking to have it unchecked by default in new posts, that way I can enable it on a case by case basis..
thanks, torch
edit—wrong ending code for the italic; fixed; also clarified minor point better

| It isn't one of the settings that I store for users in the database. I can change it globally, but I think you'd be in a minority. Retrospectively, how often do you actually need to turn them off?
As far as I'm concerned you only need to when posting a code sample. |

| Oh, I was mostly asking if it could be done via the settings..
I was not meaning to insinuate that it should be changed; in reality, it's not difficult in the slightest to manually uncheck. |

| I have never tried it but do you have to un-check it every post? Or does it stay unchecked. I will be trying it now. :) |

| Ah, you have to uncheck it every time. |

| I still don't understand why you're asking. Why do you need to disable it, as far as I've observed you aren't posting a lot of code samples? If you tick that box it disables them for everyone else, not just you. |

| I apologise, I didn't mean to offend. Most of the time, I personally prefer the emoticons I type inline with the text, though I do like some of the other emoticons available, so I could enable if I wanted those. |

| You're reading offence where there is none I'm still not following your train of thought though. |

| Lol, perhaps I should've phrased that to "if I seemed to offend" instead, as that's what I technically meant.. haha
I just don't like the emoticon pictures disrupting the line of text, I guess its a silly personal stylistic thing.. It is kind of hard to follow this train of thought I suppose... :D
edit-minor clarification... :P
