After 8 years of sitting in a box in my garage I dusted off my Jornada 720...I used to use dial up to access the web on it but now I want to go wireless....before yesterday the last time I turned on this beauty was in 2003....everything is ancient on it so do I have to update stuff to surf on the net. I purchased a Cisco Aironet 340 card but now I am having second thoughts...I use a Linksys router for my other PC's ..two laptops...and while Googling Jornada 720 wireless cards a Linksys card was suggested. It said that it was plug and play....I would rather not go through with having to download drivers if I don't have to as I have lost the Active Sync cord and I have to wait for a new one to arrive...when my 340 card arrived I inserted it into the slot provided...a green and amber light flashed but I now realize I have to do more to get it to work....btw my 340 card is actually a 342...at least it says that on the receipt...so should I return it and get the Linksys..(a pain) or are there drivers that are compatible...also if someone would be so kind as to give me a step by step on how to do this I would be eternally grateful...a link to the drivers would be excellent...

The Jornada was wonderful back 8 years ago....I am willing to spend some to get it to work...I got it as a gift back in the day so it would be a shame just to have it sit...thanks guys...finding this website was a miracle....

Lynda...

Moved to Hardware Support

There are several threads in this forum discussing how to connect the 720 to the Internet using various 802.11b cards. Try a forum search and you'll find plenty of info about how to do it. Also, check the Hardware Compatibility List to see which cards work:

I've gotten good results with the Agere ORiNOCO Classic card.

llabine1, please don't forget that Jornada OS doesn't support the WPA protocol, only WEP. Therefore you'll have to adjust your router accordingly.
