i'm a newbie, i've just bought a jornada without craddle and cable... because the craddle are a little bit expansive ( in particular because the shipping to italy) i would find another way to sync it with my laptop (vista powered)... it's possible (irda, pcmcia wlan, ...)?

I used to sync my Jornada 720 with my computer by IRDA. At this time I was using Windows 98. I think that you should try with windows xp and an IRDA adapter. Let me know if it worked.

why not with vista? i've found the option on microsoft mobile center that allows irda... unfortunately from jornada side i've encountered the famous error 678 that i've read is very common and difficult to solve... so i can't tell you if it really works or not... i've tryed also with a virtualized xp... but with this system Activesync don't recognize the irda... same problem on a desktop... i'll find a wat to solve this proble related with active sync and than.. i'lll focus on 678

I meant that you can't LAN sync with it.

If you're using a virtual machine you should be able to serial sync or USB sync to ActiveSync 3.8 in XP

I thought that the first sync had to be through a cable?? Though subsequent syncs can be by any other means.....please correct me if I am wrong.

Ok i would have solved the problem of connection with activesync (3.8) on xp virtualized, unistalling all (drivers and activesync ) and installing first active sync.. then the driver
i've also configured wireless connection in control panel and moved the irda on another usb port...
only after this activesync has begun to work...
now remains to solve error 678

Not all programs are extracted, but
c:\users\<you>\appdata\local\temp
c:\programdata\appdata\...
c:\windows\temp

are the main ones.
