| Kinda sad news for us here at HPC:Factor: our most prolific member (and onetime moderator ), cmonex, who moved on to other things some time ago, has closed her H/PC Web site, which was indispensable for us old H/PC diehards who want to maximize the usefulness of our old devices. There was a page with download packages for various Pocket PC DLLs and other tools, as well as pages dealing specifically with the Sigmarion III and NEC MobilePro 900C, including custom ROMs for the latter.
The good news is that the pages have been saved in archive.org:
http://wayback.archive.org/web/20100801000000*/http://hpcmonex.net
- and the links within appear to be fully working, including download links.
Dunno what cmonex has been doing lately, as she hasn't visited this site for over a year. Maybe others here have heard from her recently. |

| I was kind of thinking of making my own Windows CE download archive since virtually all CE sites are dead but would it get enough traffic to at least pay to run itself? It wouldn't be just HPC but also PSPC/Pocket PC etc. if I do make one which would at least help get a bit more traffic.
Thanks

| Getting a site to pay to run itself is not going to happen. HPC:Factor costs a fair bit to run and we don't have adverts to support it. Not that there are any directly related advertisers left out there any more. Donations are nothing more than a couple of £ a month. So I pay for all of it.
If you want new H/PC content to have the greatest impact, frankly you're better off putting it here than trying to start out on your own... but I've been saying that for years.
And no, there are no plans to shutdown HPC:Factor.
CE Geek, are you sure that she closed it? The message would seem to suggest that it was closed for her. Perhaps a copyright holder finally caught up |

| Well, let's say she allowed it to close (whether or not she had a choice ). Point is, it ain't there no more. But if it was a copyright issue, then how was archive.org allowed to scoop it up? |

| You think that people who spemd their days making DMCA requests are the type of people to know what archive.org is
They're much the same people who think that by blocking TPB you'll stop piracy (and TPB ). |

| She must have just forgotten about it since she last posted here three years ago. Mind you I hope that the devices she had/has? are in safe hands.
Trouble is by putting all the content that was in these long forgotten sites over here would make it quite bloated, its cleaner to me to have things spread out a bit. |

| I wonder if it was a free account, or if she used a commercial server...or maybe just her domain name expired...
Anyone can open a free Google account and open a website and post the files there and they will sit forever.... |

| The domain is valid until 2014, it's the host.
Sorry I don't trust google with data. Non-technical colleagues at work "relied" on google for storage of research information, until google decided to pull the plug and deleted 5 years of research data.
There was a LOT of crying. |

| Well, it looks like the download links don't work any more either.
Rich, if you or one of us is able to get hold of cmonex and if she is able to send us the files, is there any chance of you hosting them on MyMobilePro? |

| A huge thanks to Leo, he's got a backup of the site and nearly all download links are intact. |

| You're welcome, CE Geek.
It appears that cmonex' original H/PC site is back online once again. |
