How are your experiences with Microdrives in 7xx series? Are they reliable?
Do they fit into the CF slot?

I am not sure if I should by one, so any recommendations/objections are appreciated...

Don't. That's my advice. They eat battery power like they are at a free buffet. Also you have to be sure you get one that runs in CF mode, not IDE mode, as does most of them for cameras. The IDE mode is not compatible with most HPCs. They are big heat makers. They get really hot. They are prone to damage from vibration and handling...at least the old ones were.

You simple get more bang for your buck with a CF memory card.

Ok, thanks for the hint!

And what CF cards are new available in stores, that would fit? Any tips?

LOL Rich when I read that I had that image of you and your wife eating at a buffet. IIRC you once told a story about that here, like you both couldn't move afterwards or something...

Anyways, just to get us back on topic: no the microdrives are usually Type 2 and won't fit in the CF slot on the bottom, unless you cut open the casing (I think someone has done it before...) However you can use them in the PCMCIA slot with the right adapter.

Turkey day buffet Takwu... Felt like a beached whale...

But why would anyone want to use a microdrive when CF memory card is both faster, takes less energy, and more stable physically? Unless you just happen to have some of them lying around....

And I always buy those quality unbranded cheapo CF memory cards...maybe not as fast as some, but they work fine.
