While poking around some of my CE 6.0 (and Windows Embedded Compact 7) devices, I discovered something: several of them have Internet Explorer Embedded installed, even though there's no native shortcut for it in the Start Menu nor on the desktop. In CE 6, the executable is \Windows\iesample_exr.exe, while in WEC 7 it's \Windows\IEEXR.EXE. Some of the Sylvania CE 6 ROMs have it, while some don't. (Even one of my two Sylvania WEC 7 netbooks doesn't have it.) The Wabook Sky ROM has it, as does my SmartQ V7, but the ROM in my Zenithink ZT-180 tablet doesn't even though it does have a plugin in IE CE 6 for watching videos within the browser.

Those of you who have CE 6 netbooks might look around \Windows to see if it's there, and if it is, check it out and share your browsing experiences in it.

Can this be installed on our little CE 6 embedded mp3 players? I'd like to load some offline sites on it if it's possible to get on there.

I thought IE was seamlessly integrated into Windows CE 6.0. Am I wrong?

You'd have to ask Microsoft. I haven't found any obvious differences other than the appearance of the interface.

I guess it's in the core, and how HTML gets visualized? not sure...
