Hi,

lately I´ve been playing around with ActiveSync on XP Pro. I wanted to try getting a sync connection with the modem on my PC at home. When I start the Sync on my J728 it lights up "green" on my PC (there is a connection), but i can´t get it to work. It stops at a certain point and after some time it ends with an error message.

I can´t remember if it isn´t really meant to work, or if there is some workaround.

Anybody here that might know something about it? Would be cool to get it working...if there´s a chance.

Thanks for any help!

Best,
Wolf

Have you dropped the firewall on the connection?

I always get the message "Active Sync not responding on the Desktop Computer".

What else could it be?

ActiveSync should give you access to internet immidiately.

You may press the "OK" button somewhere there on PC, it says "No profile created" or something.

You misunderstood me. I don´t need an internet connection THROUGH the pc, I want to connect ActiveSync VIA internet TO a PC (no cable, no wifi, no lan - via UMTS modem).

Somehow I get through, but not stable - e.g. it says "critical communication services have failed to start." And then AS stops, without syncing the Jornada.

Anybody?

Sorry CE Geek, this is NOT hardware-related. Its´a software issue. Pls move it back.

How does one make an ActiveSync connection without hardware?

Even if software-related, it does not belong in the General Discussion forum, since it regards a specific H/PC platform (H/PC 2000).

I never heard of CE being able to connect to ActiveSync thorough internet without additional software. I know that one can connect through local area network, but through UMTS card?.. I cannot even imagine how can you do this in CE.

I cannot understand how exactly you get any success with it.

Please read here:
http://forums.thoughtsmedia.com/f416/pocket-pc-2002-how-activesync-...

I get it to the point that Activesync tells me that Jornada links up (and Jornada says so too), but then at a certain point theres no more reaction. It looks like Jornada never gets a confirmation of the linkage...

I am stuck at this point...

I see. Did you try connecting through other internet-enabling devices (LAN, WiFi, etc.)?

Yes, via WiFi and USB, both succesfully, using Pockethosts.

Maybe specific ports are blocked on your UMTS network? Not sure but they do that sometimes in networks I know of.
