Hi Folks,

me again. Yesterday I "reconditioned" my Jornada from a backup. Since then I am only able to connect to my desktop PC via WiFi (accessing shared Drive). Connecting to internet via EDGE modem however is fine.

WiFi is 64bit WEP with a 5-digit ASCII-key. I am using an Orinoco Gold Card. Desktop doesn´t have WiFi, but is wired to the WiFi-Router. Desktop DOES have Internet access, but Jornada DOESN´T. I can ping successfully the Desktop (and vice versa) but I CAN´T ping the router from Jornada.

The weird thing is that I can access the files on my desktop via wifi, but for some stupid reason I am NOT able to connect to the internet, although I am using THE SAME CONNECTION.

WHY? Anybody out there with a solution perhaps? This is driving me nuts....I can´t find the problem.

One thing, have you checked the clock settings? I don't know, but sometimes, when clock date is set back to a past time, it doesn't connect.

Thanks for the hint, but I can confirm that time/date on all devices are the same with minimal difference (minutes to seconds).

Adress, mask, gateway.

Address Router 192.168.200.1
Address Desktop 192.168.200.7
Address Jornada 192.168.200.3
Mask Jornada 255.255.255.0
Gateway 192.168.200.1

Gateway and Mask are the same for PC and Jornada.

For reasons I don´t understand I CAN connect with Jornada to the internet (just found out) when my PC is powered OFF. That is beyond me, since I can´t seem to find a conflict anyway....

Why?

Oh man. Now I found out.

Seems like you can´t do 2 things at the same time: connect to a PC (filesharing) AND connect to internet (browser) WITH THE SAME Gateway. How would I know?

Well...it can be so simple. Anybody ever experienced this himself? Would be interesting to know who else had that problem.

My o my. How annoying. And I thought having a Gateway set on the router would make life easier configuring for every device connected to it.

I'm not sure that I understand what you are saying the problem is?

You can access the Internet and access LAN file shares (\\server\share) at the same time from a Jornada. As long as you aren't using 192.168.55.x you can ActiveSync at the same time too.

Why don't you just let your router DHCP the client addresses?

Edit: That is wrong. For some reason I got internet for a few minutes, and then it went away. Connection to PC however always is still fine, Activesync also works.

It doesn´t matter whether I turn DHCP off/on on the router, Jornada doesnt connect to Internet. I cant even Ping the router; pinging from the router however works.

What am I doing wrong?

Something strange again.

When I ping Jornada from the router, I suddenly can connect with Jornada to the internet. When I don´t do it, I never get a connection established. Has someone an explanation for this???

Hm.. interesting. Well if you can ping, you are really connected to router. Maybe it's a bit unstable?
