Can someone please point me to an easy to follow 'Step by step' guide to executing the CMONEX Rom upgrades - and the location of the requisite programs?

Reason for asking ... I've recently acquired 26 (!) MobilePro 900s, each with HPC 2000; some of which seem to be working reasonably okay (am still 'testing' though).

I did upgrade my own units several years back but have long since forgotten how I did it.

Thanks, RJ99

(Alt Bass): your link just gives a calendar showing in which months Cmonex's link has been 'crawled' since 2007 (16 times!!!).

I've now downloaded the hpcf_nec_p530_30-60 executable (from HPFactor, thanks Rich for this great resource!); but where does one find the 'bootleader' ?

Once I have the bootloader .... presumably I need to copy it and the above executable onto the CompactFlash. Then what?

Sorry, this is doubtless blindingly obvious - must be as I did it successfully a few years back (2006??) - although quite a few of the brain cells have since switched off!

You can select any of the most recent versions and you will find everything including instructions and the files.

Thanks fellows. From HPC:Update, I've now got both the executable and the ''Step by step".
What I still don't see is where to get the 'Bootloader'; my unit(s) have "<4.1" so I do need to get "4.1" from somewhere ...!

The hpcf_nec_p530_30-60 is the firmware flash for HPC2000, version 6.

You want the hpcf_nec_p530_42-202 download if you want CE.NET 4.2. This is the one with the newer 4.1 bootloader.

All the units are HPC2000, some with Bootloader '<2.1', some with '<4.1'.

Still not clear, (a) for all these, do I need 'Bootloader 4.1'? (b) If so, where do I get it?

Bootloader 4.1 is the most stable and useful bootloader. It is part of the CE.NET 4.2 flash. If you look at the firmware stuff, you will see an UPDBL.NB0 file on it. That is the bootloader. The update.exe software basically updates the bootloader first, then copies over the OS into memory, deletes the existing stuff from the Mobilepro, and then installs the system.

Of course the bootloader is the first and most important...because without it...then everything else is just trash.

What I would do is make two install compact flash disks. On one I'd have my CE.NET 4.2. Then I'd make an identical second one, but replace the XIP.bin file that contains the CE.NET OS with the XIP.bin file that contains the HPC2000 operating system.

That way in the future, you could update any 900 series Mobilepro with whichever OS the person wanted...all in one step. They would get the latest HPC2000 build or the CE.NET build...both with the 4.1 bootloader.

You must have 4.10 or you will brick them and as I said, it's in "CE 4.2 ROM Image + Boot loader P530_42 2.02 + 4.10BL" in H/PC:Update for the 900.
