| I have just tried to install the Mips 4000 version on my FEX 21 HPC200 by loading on to the compact flash card.
The program tries to install but hangs up saying "setting registry entries" (the mips 3000 version says the wrong device)
Any ideas? |

| Extract the files manually from the MIPS3000 CAB file and try them on the flash card... |
|
|
|
| I extracted the files on the desktop pc and transferred them to the CF card still got the same result mips 3000 says "wrong device type" |

| And if you do the same with the r4000 cab? |
|
|
|
| No difference.
The scenario seems to be :- the mips 4000 cab seems to install ok
then setting registry entries
then hangs up still with box on screen (all bars across )
so I then did a soft reset
clear screen now
program now in list
open program screen looks ok but message box"the city information cannot be read from the device. Tap data>site information>location>custom to enter your
location"
Tap OK
Message now reads "the requiredfile "sky data\pocket edition preferences" cannot be opened.??? |
|
|
|
| I now believe the problem is "setting registry entries" does not complete .
Searching the internet I have seen what appears to be the solution from microsoft "patch:wceload.exe Fixes active x control hanging problem on palm size pc"
However the procedure does not seem to work I cannot run the file wcelupd.exe on my xp desktop pc can anyone help! |

| The article states that it applies to the PsPC, not the H/PC, but if you want to play with it, just rename the .bin file of choice to wceload.exe and send it to the device. |

| When you installed the program, it should have created a folder in the \program files folder called "TheSky Pocket Edition"
It should also have created a folder called "Sky Data" and that should reside in the \program files\thesky pocket edition folder.
Within that folder should 25 files. One of them should be titled "pocket edtion preferences"
The point I'm making here is that the file structure is important...the main sky program is looking for that folder and looking for that file within that folder to run. You cannot just copy all the files into one large group...they need to be in their proper subdirectories for the main program to find. |

|
| I tried wceload no luck
I checked the file structure it is exactly as you say. The message setting registry entries never looses the egg timer. Also If I do a soft reset at this point there is no program in the remove programs list!

| This is the registry structure in the R4000 cab:
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Software Bisque\TheSky Pocket Edition]
"Default"=dword:00000000
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Software\Software Bisque\TheSky Pocket Edition\Start-up]
"PathName"="\\My Documents\\Normal.sky"
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.sky]
"Default"="isce_skyfile"
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\isce_skyfile]
"Default"="Sky Document"
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\isce_skyfile\DefaultIcon]
"Default"="%InstallDir%\\TheSky Pocket Edition.exe,0"
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\isce_skyfile\Shell\Open\Command]
"Default"="\"%InstallDir%\\TheSky Pocket Edition.exe\" %1"

| If the files are all there, then you ought to be able to take your reg info and manually import the registry. Wonder where your memory slider is...I mean do you have adequate free memory during the install.
And it would be easy enough to remove the reg entries from the CAB file and see what happens too.
Maybe Pocket Universe 2000 would meet your needs... |

| Before I spend more time on Bisque the sky (and more hard resets) Pocket Universe 2000 sounds good where can I get a copy? |

| Did you try manually constructing the registry from my post above? |
