So, I know that this forum hasn't been used in a while, but I am planning on buying a 620LX, and I would like to know if there are any ROM chips that can replace the one that usually comes with it, and include a "better" version of windows (like a chip that is compatible and of the same kind, but with better overall hardware). I know there is an upgraded model with windows ce 2.11, but I can't find any of them, and doubt they would be affordable if I ever did.

The 620 had a 2.11 ROM replacement, but you'll find it harder to locate the chip than you would a Jornada 680/680/720.

Is it possible to dump a ROM module with windows ce 2.11 ??? I can't even find a mention of such a possibility anywhere.
It is possible to create a copy of the memory module. The main problem is what to write in it ...

I think the bigger problem is that the ROM isn't writeable, so unless you are planning on de-soldering , finding and writing new PROM chips, there isn't much you can do.

Would a 660lx rom card work on the 620lx? This might be an interesting alternative

Theoretically, yes there were some tools floating around for 2.11, but I don't ever recall any being compiled for 2.00. If you're pulling the chips and have the tools, it might be easier to perform a block read using an external chip reader?

There might be more fun had in trying to spit Linux or even CE 3.00 onto it, rather than CE 2.00.

No the interface was different, sadly.

Why different interface ??? The only difference is the amount of RAM. 16 MB for 620LX and 32 MB for 660LX ...

Sorry, I misread that, I thought ntware had written 680.

The 620 had its own 2.11 ROM upgrade as did the 660.
