Hi everyone; I own one of these 7" Sylvania smartbooks. Recently I updated the OS, it's now more stable and so, but they removed WordPad and replaced it with some ugly editor called CKE. I hate it. So, I downloaded an old image of the OS and extracted WPAD.EXE. Unfortunately, when I double-click it, the cursour only turns into an hourglass for a split second, then nothing happens.
Are any registry entries missing? Please help!

I wonder if OS suppresses runtime problems like missing DLLs or wrong OS version.

But if it was missing DLLs, wouldn't it give me a "Couldn't find WPAD.EXE (or one of its components)" error?

What worked? Did you mean you found a missing DLL or the HPC2000 Office worked...Excel, Word, Powerpoint...etc.

The office program you mentioned had a bunch of DLLs included, after copying them to the \Windows folder WordPad ran! And now I have a free office suite! Thanks a lot!!
