It's been a while since I've been here. Just wondered, if there is anything that resembles a pc in your pocket these days?

I remember the 200LX, still by far my favorite...

Then there was the Jornada 720, Jornada 728, and then the Sigmaron III.

After that it was pretty much laptops...

and even though I have a 6S Plus, I'm wondering if there is anything else...

I've seen the Raspberry Pi, and thought about building something...

I also see that the Pyre is taking advance orders again...

Is that all there is?

Mike...

Hmm, looks interesting. Building one of those Raspberry Pi based things is a fun way to waste time I have built one myself. Don't expect any usability though
However, there is an interesting device that resembles an HPC, the GPD-WIN. It runs on Windows 10 though, wich for me is the biggest con argument

Only thing in my pocket is an Android smartphone. It does everything for $30 a month unlimited data.

I even downloaded a custom ringtone for my wife. It is a woman's voice. When the phone rings, she comes on and says, "Hey honey, it's me sweetie, your wife. I was just wondering what you were doing and if you would like a (B... J..) when you come home.

I played it for my wife...she didn't appreciate it at all. Went back to a standard ringtone....

There's this: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/gpd-win-intel-z8550-win-10-os-gam...

If they had that with a Psion 5mx keyboard, I'd die a happy man.

Well I just got a O2 XDA Exec Windows phone. It's the size of a small brick! It runs Windows Mobile 5 edition.
It has the bigger Fat battery. Now I'll have fun installing some of my Pocket PC/ Windows mobile Apps.
I picked it up because it was close in size to my old HP Jornada 720. http://www.urbanlime.com/entry,92,02-xda-exec--breaking-the-communi...
It's similar in in size to the Nintendo DS Lite. It takes a full size SD card which is nice since all my Android phones
take Micro SD cards. I carry a older LG US760 which has a real keyboard and dual screens.
And a tiny Sanyo Innuendo which also had a real keyboard. The Innuendo isn't active on the network, but
has a great speaker system. I guess I have an addiction to HPC form phones.
Curse you HP, curse you to heck!

Nice! it was also called HTC Universal, I believe.

I have the variant of HTC Kaiser called EMONSTER S11HT.
It has keyboard so I like it very much although EMONSTER S11HT has much smaller form-factor than XDA Exec.

Having a full-size SD comes in handy. :-)

I wish HP made a Jornada continuation...

I guess that it's resistive touchscreen is due to the fact it's military grade, when the user's hand is muddy (?) , dirty, uses glove, etc.

Aren't those military handhelds very expensive? I mean, it's temperature resistant, bullet proof (?), and complies with army standards ! A pretty hard contrast to the good ol' HPCs.

Yeps, had the ATT HTC 8525, nice little pocket PC. Had it for 3 months. Carried it to work every day in a belt pouch. Was off for 2 days, came back into work and headed for my work station.
In the 2 days I was off someone moved the loading dock scale from the right side of the loading docks to the left side. Tripped right over the damn scale, and landed on my right side where my phone was on my belt.
Needless to say the phone screen cracked. Unit was still working, but screen was shot!

Now that's a sad story, scotterbug. I hope you sued all around

Purchased a Fujitsu U810 a month or so ago. Put in an 32gb ssd and installed 10.04 Ubuntu (whose time matches the U810). Only an 800mhz CPU and a gig of RAM, but it plays mp4 movies without complaint and the 5.6"screen/keyboard more manageable than my MBook M1. Hellacious battery life but still far behind a J720. MiniGorilla external battery comes with Fujitsu tip, so that helps.

I found some pretty interesting devices here

Especially the iRiver devices look cool:

It's sold as a translator, it runs an Android OS, so it's much more than just a translator.
