Very nice to see you are booting Linux on it!

I have one question, how is the keyboard? I mean, is it the hard type or the softer type?

This looks like a ton of fun. May I ask how much you paid? $340ish USD?

And anything else you have to say about this machine, however random, would be much appreciated in this thread, I think. You're the canary in the mine

Think it was around that plus DHL Express shipping from Germany....bought from dragonbox.de.....Superb service before sale and follow through with quick handling and shipping.

As for the WIN.......

It runs Win 10 pretty well....display is sharp and good colors to my eyes.

Keyboard as mentioned reminds me of the Blackberry I used to have, but keys are larger than BB....but similar feel.

Battery charge is pretty good, but most of time I use it where I can plug in.

I'm not a gamer, so, can't comment on that aspect.

Has little switch on bottom of casing to change fan setting; Low, High, Off. I have it set on Low since I don't use games. Don't really hear it unless I get very close to it with my ear.

Has only one USB 3.0 port, so, got a nice 3 port USB hub with ethernet port from j5create. Have a tiny Targus mouse and CAT5 cable connected to it usually, works well. Occasionally, a flash drive too.

Lot of BIOS settings....don't recall ever having a laptop with so many selections....probably there because WIN was market focused for gamers?

Has HDMI port to connect to a large monitor, but I've never tried it.

Pretty cool having a pocketable laptop running Win 10 and for me linux too......

Does have some quirks, most noticeably to me is charger. Does charge but I get message in Windows that PC is charging slowly and I should use charger that came with device....Plan on trying another charger sometime to see if that message doesn't appear.

If you're a gamer, then I'd advise you to read about WIN over at Dingoonity forums, as you get very different perspective from that crowd......

Certainly not a device for everyone, but for those looking for a really pocketable Windows machine, certainly one to consider.

Out of stock... https://www.dragonbox.de/en/114-gpd-win

Mike...

Don't'cha hate it when that happens.....

Think they're getting another batch in near future....

If interested, use chat feature on their website.....owner usually responds even when you'd think he'd be sleeping.....at least it happened that way for me a few times....

Other option is send an email, which also tends to get a pretty quick response usually.

Hey, thanks for the detailed follow-up. I'm especially intrigued by user-controlled fan. I've never heard of that. I'm using Win10 on recently-purchased Asus Transformer and like it better than I thought I would.

You are most welcome!

I've never had a fan control switch either before....pretty cool.....no pun intended....

Asus Transformer looks pretty good....although a bit larger than the WIN.....

Thanks for telling me about the hardness of the keyboard. Nice! I like the Blackberry keyboard feel, although I only stocked it to sell it. (Docomo BB 9000)

I'm not sure if this is discussed here earlier, but this handheld looks like a winner!

I'm thinking of backing this project, it's a promising concept...

It's nice, but for small increase in size, you can also consider the GPD Pocket with a 7" display instead of 5.6".

From what I've read, the guy who designed the Psion hinge is involved in design of this device, not the overall Psion team.

Don't get me wrong, think it's nice to see this device.....

And then there's the soon to be released Pyra as well the little GPD WIN, I picked up one about 2 months ago....works pretty well....

Yes, that's a bit of a dilemma. My troubles with the Pocket (and I'm very interested in it) are 1) the battery-eating fan 2) non-user-replaceable battery

The Gemini is supposed to have a user-replaceable battery; that goes a long way with me.

But Mark's point about the screen is important: there's a big difference b/w 5.6" and 7"

Decisions, decisions,
Jake

Yep, it seems like there's always some dilemma with these littly guys.....

If it's really pocketable, then we worry that keyboard is too small.....

It's always something it seems.....

Usually wish I could combine two device designs into one device to get what I'd really like....
