| I found a new parts that may come in handy. It’s called VoCore 2. Nothing high end, but the spec is rather similar to the golden age of Handheld PC, with the RAM at 128MB.
Very tiny and it seems like they have compatible screen for it.
WiFi and Ethernet included.
It is also very tiny. (1in. sq. )
Price: $17.99

This is an interesting little device - I'm sure there's a Linux distro that will work on those modest specs but I wonder if there's any GUI lighweight enough to run on it - I'm sure the members here who have played with JLime / other Linuxes on the J720 could weigh in on that! Interesting setup with the screens - It seems they connect via USB2 so they're effectively a display and display adaptor in one. They claim to get 25fps which is impressive, and good enough for PDA-type use, even playing videos wouldn't be too painful.
I've spotted this interesting video with a teardown of the GPi Case2: https://youtu.be/5URlLuweQjQ It's a Gameboy-styled case that accepts the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4. Probably not of direct interest to most here, but the mainboard looks quite compact and it provides sound output and battery charging for the CM4, as well as HDMI and USB via the USB-C port. I wonder if that could be repurposed for a HPC-type device? |

| Thank you for the info on the GPi Case 2.
It's amazing that CM4 can be put into a GAMEBOY formfactor.
I wonder if you can put a custom shell (software ) on The GPi Case 2 and do some command line stuff.
VoCore 2 runs OpenWrt, which is based on buildroot.
I wonder if buildroot can support the screen, I bet it does. Edited by stingraze 2022-05-25 7:42 AM

| Design for inspiration.
I found this via Pinterest, and the design is from 2016 but it is refined and beautiful.

| I think this good instrucatable wasn't mentioned on this thread, it's a Raspberry Pi + Arduino laptop project.
Good to follow and for reference.

| hellish?
I don’t think it will be that bad.
The smallness’ drawback can’t be helped .
But yes, I think the WPM with it will be pretty slow at first, lol. |

| Tiny, micro-spaced, noisy, with very firm presses and no key caps. I can't imagine that anything about using that is pleasant. |
