Wow everyone getting a phone... My Lumia is giving me a few problems so I have to replace it.
I just ordered an Alcatel Idol 4s with Windows 10. It's on sale but still a lot of money. I will see if it's worth it...
The passport seems pretty awesome. Post some pictures ??
stingraze, I have seem a slideout keyboard for iPhone 5. You might want to consider one. Let me grab a link...
I'll post a few pics this weekend.
That Alcatel comes in a few variations: the Alcatel Android version; the BlackBerry DTEK60 Android version; and now a Windows 10 version. I wonder if it supports continuum? Edited by Mobi 2017-04-14 4:59 AM

That's very nice!
I recently bought a iPhone 5s for future app development use a couple days ago after watching Ghost in the Shell (lol ).
I just had this sudden urge to buy one. haha. It was about $156.00 USD.
Apple A7 CPU & Space Gray color.
The screen is a little narrow as I use a 5 inch XPERIA Z5 usually. I think it will take some time getting used to.
I'm using the iPhone 5s without SIM. (only WiFi )
I like the look of the 5/5s/SE. My wife has the SE and it's a very nice phone. If I was Rich, I'd say something like, "it keeps her occupied." lol. Actually, if I was Rich, I'd say something worse! Edited by Mobi 2017-04-14 5:03 AM

| Mobi,
Yes the idol supports continuum. But it doesn't come with a dock, nor does Alcatel make one. So you would have to get a dock from other makes such as Microsoft |

lol.
Here's 2 pictures of my iPhone 5s. I "modded" it with a aluminum bumper.
I didn't know until today that SE was the same form factor as 5s.

I was looking on reddit: Alternative (and cheaper) continuum dock options?
Apparently something like this would work well. After all the trouble with USB-C cables, third-party solutions kind of worry me though. Edited by Mobi 2017-04-14 8:14 PM

Here's the pics! They're a little grainy. My photography skills, the Q10 camera, and the image quality reduction for the forum combine to produce some truly awful shots
I have a QWERTY keyboard coming from Aliexpress. The deal was too good to pass up, even with the QWERTZ keyboard. In the meantime, the keys are remapped in the software, so the Z types a Y and the Y a Z.
Re-using the form factor on the iPhone SE means that all the cases are interchangeable too, Stingraze.
Very nice looking Passport!
Yeah, I noticed that iPhone SE cases are interchangeable with 5/5s the other day.

| Thanks Mobi... I am aware there are much cheaper alternatives to Microsoft's continuum dock for Lumia - I'll do some research and see if I can just get a cheap one from local stores |

| Posting on this thread again because I got a Blackberry Passport Black today in Akihabara. It was 22,800 JPY including tax.
I really love this device, but I need some getting used to, especially how the touchscreen UI works and all. I am planning to put some Android apps on it.

| Very cool looking phone, stingraze. Obviously, the physical keyboard is its sexiest part. Are you using the Sharp IS01 for comparison? I always admired that machine.

Thank you, Jake!
Yeah, I am using the IS01 as a comparison, sort of. More of copying what Mobi was doing with the Jornada. :- ) Yes, the physical keyboard, it sure feels good.
I'm beginning to get the hang of the Blackberry Passport and installed my app on it by apk. Very easy to do. Having 3GB of RAM is pretty good even by today's standards so I really enjoy this new handheld.
As for the IS01, I've discovered it can boot Gentoo Linux ( link) I'm tweaking it bit by bit it is indeed an awesome machine. |
