I'll ensure that I'm setup for WEP on the AP.
As long as you're aware that is not a smart idea if you live somewhere your neighbours or passers by could use your network. WEP was found to be ineffective a long time ago.

Ethernet would be a better idea if you must bring a CE device online.

Actually, my workaround for wifi signal encryption is simple… I don't use any. I don't even use my HPCs any longer except for playing with them occasionally.

Old wifi routers are so cheap… around $5, that what I do is have one plugged into my home router. I then turn on the old router when I want to use my HPC wirelessly and turn it off when I'm done.

My Jornada 720 syncs with Windows 10 using the Windows Mobile Device Center.
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/931937/description-of-windo...

When you try to sync for the first time and on the laptop you have not yet assigned Outlook as the email client to sync with, it seems that the app cannot connect with the handheld. However, hidden behind the green window on the laptop screen is a windows dialog box moaning about a missing email client. When you click OK over there, the sync is established and you can configure the partnership.
