Hiya

I downloaded the appropriate file for HPC Update for the HP 620LX. I don't have a way of running the executable to install the update via Desktop to palmtop, so I extracted the cabs. After copying them to the 620LX, CE 2.0 tells me the SH3 cab isn't a valid setup file. Anyone know a solution?

Thanks!

What are the file names of the CABs you're double tapping to get this?

Thanks for the reply.

The cabs I extracted are titled nspMIPS.CAB and nspSH3.CAB. I've tried to run both, although I know my machine has an SH3.

Try pulling the CAB directly from the redist server:

I made the NSP back at the dawn of time, so I can guarantee that the sources work.

Still getting the same message. Any chance I have some local settings that aren't letting me execute it?

Edit: Actually, I think my transfer method (a PCMCIA card with an SD) is corrupting my files. This may be getting off topic, but is there a way to transfer files with a USB to Serial adapter and the 620 LX's original cable? I would transfer the programs directly to the CF card if I had the means.

Are you 100% that you're using the 2.00 ROM and not the 2.11 one?

Yes, I am certain I'm using the 2.0 rom. I made an edit to my above post with more information.

How big is this CF card? CE2 is subject to the FAT16 limitation.

Might be worth trying to re-format it, which you should do from a elevated command prompt

diskpart
list disk
# be DAMN sure that you know which disk # is your CF card, I'll use disk 2 in this example
select disk 2
clean
create part pri size=1024
active
format fs=fat
assign
exit

That will leave the CF as a 1GB card with a FAT16 filesystem

The CF card is only 128 MB. Did you mean the SD card? It's a 2 GB standard SD.

Edit: I formatted my SD card with the code above and the cab was able to run. Sometimes I take for granted how easy it is to corrupt flash storage.

Thanks for your help!
