Did you notice that they are the 9000 models? For those of you not familiar with the identification, the original MP900 had several operating system errors when it was released. So NEC pulled the unsold off the market, offered free upgrades to those that were sold, and they were relabeled as the 9000 models. The latest and best build of HPC2000.

After that is when they came out with the CE.NET 4.2 version flash upgrade for $100 bucks. They made a limited production run and after that was when the firmware upgrade was released into the public…which your's truly had (might still have) a letter from NEC allowing free distribution.

Could new users still find batteries for this model? Didn't see any on ebay.

Are the directions for putting Cmonex's ops update still available anywhere. I believe I still have the files saved and might just pick one of these up.

Ah yes… the custom rom flash. I loved mine…

I had all my favorites permanently flashed onto my 900C, Softmaker Office 2006, Jetcet Printer drivers, Rescoe Radio, KSE Bacgammon, 802.11G wifi drivers, Opera mini, Winwatch, Total Commander… and others that just can't remember it's been so long…

I'd have to buy the machine first, I imagine

Or maybe I'll just start collecting batteries. They'd look on the mantle.

This is one of those pocket candy computers. It's winks at you and plays a little tune to open your wallet!
