I never touched Psion, I have nothing to say, but it morphed to what is known as planet computer's PDA.
(Descendant (designed by designer at Psion) https://www.planetcom.co.uk/

Kindly refer to this URL on the amazing specification.

Ericsson of course, made telephone from ages ago.

Sony & Ericsson were together for some time, they are separate now.

just some tip of information for you.

Hope it helps.

I’ve never used an Ericsson MC218, but I did use Psion 5MXs quite a bit a few years ago. I liked Psions, they worked well and made great writing machines. Unfortunately, I had problems with both the software and hardware.

I always had problems getting text off the Psion 5mx. Taking a CF card out of the 5mx and placing it directly in a desktop (Windows XP at that time) always resulted in a corrupt CF card (I tend not to use syncing software, much preferring just directly plugging a CF card into whatever computer I want to copy something to).

The other, major problem I found with the 5mx was the ribbon cable. I must have had my machines at the local repair place at least a dozen times. I used them a lot and they tended to break.

So, I can’t really answer your original question, but I thought you should know about some of the problems with the 5mx.

Ribbon cables are really annoying when it cuts. I think I cut my Sony Tablet P's one once when I dropped it from the bed.

I may as well chip in; I have a 5mx in storage but the retainers for the metal hinges inside the case seem to have broken off, and I have no idea if it is repairable. The mechanism seems to put a fair amount of strain on the chassis and there is a crack in the plastic surrounding the display. I really wish they had either settled on a simpler design (Series 3) or refined it a little further.

I bought it at a time when I was going through a Symbian phase and almost picked up one of the swansong Nokia handsets running that OS. I prefer the software to CE, and the psionconv program has made the proprietary file formats a little more accessible on other machines.

Japanese people usually take their devices very seriously (I mean they handle it well). BUT, I sometimes drop it accidentally so I usally buy MIL-SPEC smartphones or put on cases like ZEROSHOCK series from ELECOM.

ZEROSHOCK series is really good.

iPhone 6S has a MIL-STD black case, looks a bit like G-SHOCK. (made in Korea)
FUJITSU also makes good MIL-STD smartphones.

Back to topic, I ordered 2 x of cameras for Gemini PDA from their official site, but they aren't coming... (It's been more than a month, maybe more than 2!) Time to file a complaint with Paypal I guess.

Hey, stingraze--Planet is notorious for selling things they hope to have rather than stuff they do have.

That said, I think they're an honest company. Certainly, when I've emailed for support, they've gotten back right away. They sent my Gemini in a timely fashion in June (though I did not order accessories). Over at Indiegogo, I've heard similar complaints about missing accessories, but I've also read that these accessories have shown up eventually.

They probably shouldn't sell stuff they don't already have at hand, but it is a start-up and they probably need all the cash they can get. That, and they're having to work with overseas factories that may have their own reliability issues.

FWIW,
Jake

Hello Jake!

Thanks for your info.
I actually emailed their support and said they will ship within a few weeks.

BUT:

it's been months, not weeks.
I understand their situation, but they have my hard earned money...
If they're using SONY CMOS / CCD sensor modules, I'll wait, it's worth the wait.

Sometimes I need to complain in order for them to go to the right direction. haha
Yeah, they EMS (outsource) to China, and probably the supply chain management is terrible. *sigh*

Related link (diff. between OEM EMS etc.)

Projects in Indiegogo are very hard to be shipped to reality. Same old stuff happened in OUYA (that time I got a refund after complaining on Facebook).

Oh yes, I enhanced my LAN environment the other day... Lots of upgrades.

That's a most informative link, stingraze; thanks for posting it.

My guess is that you'll get your stuff, but no time soon

I have to admit, I use the Gemini as my daily driver. I just love it. That said, I miss having a camera, and from what I hear, unfortunately, the Gem camera isn't great, even if it does come

The trade-offs we make for a pkb. But it's always been that way, that's why we're in this forum.

Yep. So true.

I might order Gemini from a Japanese retailer someday soon. (Akihabara?)

Humbly predict you will not regret that decision if you go ahead with it.
