The power of imprinting. The first time you see a tiny computer, you think it's your mother for the rest of your life.

Speaking of mother,

Do you know the YouTube channel, MOTHERBOARD? They do a very good documentary.

haha, I understand what you mean...

Us geeks are the kind the humanity needs in times like this. If we band together, we can achieve the "impossible".

Psion Series 5MX vs Ericsson MC218

I have owed and used both extensively. The hardware is the same and ribbon cable breakage is a real issue on an old Psion. The silkscreen buttons have different icons and if I recall a couple of different functions. The software was slightly different, the MC218 was supplied with an IR modem that clipped onto an Erricson mobile and the ROM had software to make this usable.

Interestingly Erricson had previously paired up with HP to do a variant on the early jornada...

Hope this helps

The MC218 is essentially a rebadged HP 360LX. In terms of recommendations, I would say it depends on what you want to do with either.

Windows CE is better from an interoperability standpoint. If you want to sync, use networking, or exchange documents then the MC218 is probably better.

The Psion has more powerful builtin software so if you are primarily planning on keeping the docs on the handheld then I would go for the MX.

From a reliability standpoint, the MC is better as has been discussed above.

I think the Psion Series 5 screens are also not as visible with the backlight turned off compared to CE devices as well so that might be a factor.

Oh yikes, I didn't read carefully enough. I though you were discussing the MC16 rather than the MC218.

I can't edit my post anymore to fix it, unfortunately.

I love the Psion series. I still have mine and old sets 3 , 3a, 5 , 5mx .

I still use it for the drawings.
I think it was a excellent OS from Symbian, EPOC.
Using AA batteries. I remember those days when I get slow internet on it.
Infrared printing with word program. I wrote so many documents on it until I got my J720 728.

There use to be a spot in NYC on Greene st that was a full support place for Psion until Psion went to Windows .

New World Technologies
110 Greene St, Suite 110
New York, NY 10012 USA

I almost had a Ericsson, but no cigar.

I just found this just now.
