I could add an ExpressCard RS-232 adapter to my HP 2133 and attain identical functionality with a similar form factor. With the right chipset, they can even simulate normal COM port behaviour and work with just about anything.

Yeah, but the 2133 is much bigger. (I know cuz I have one. It's my primary XP PC.)

Nice specs on that Micro: 6-inch display, 4 GB RAM, 128 GB solid state drive. Not bad for 300 USD.

Nice find, thcrw739!

Device looks like fun. The only rub may be the keyboard (and its weird layout). For me, the GPD Win keyboards always looked too Blackberry-ish for real typing.

To be honest, it looks like a fun machine and I might eventually pick one up. But if I wanted a super compact device I'd go with the Gemini.

Thanks for the tip, thcrw739. I haven't read liliputing for years. Bookmarked.

There's an announcement of a cheaper version of the GPD Pocket 2 (lower CPU, RAM; better battery life) on the site this morning: https://liliputing.com/2018/12/gpd-launches-a-cheaper-pocket-2-mini-...

Mobi...I just saw that article, and was going to mention it in this thread On another note, I sure wish someone would make a 8" or smaller chromebook.

...which pays dividends in the keyboard and touchpad as they are much closer to standard-size. Seems unfortunate that GPD wasted real estate on a touchpad when they could have fit a larger keyboard.

thcrw, you can easily turn most any small old laptop into a Chromebook by flashing the bios and installing the OS.
