Looks like they actually managed to make the foldable display smartphone / tablet.
It's called Royole FlexPai.

The developer's edition is shipping out in December.

As a fan of Sony Tablet P, I wish they folded the other way. It's very cool that they made this happen.

Nice find, stingraze. It's a wonderful idea, but its folded thickness is a deterrent against storing the phone in your pocket. And it doesn't appear that they developed the cool part of the Tablet P, which is to have two different screens (i.e. doc on one, keyboard on the other).

In three years, when they're razor-thin, the fold-able phone could be the standard. But I can't see toting this current thing in the front pocket of my jeans. Even the Gemini is a bulky thing.

I wish they had these tiny devices around the size of a HTC Tytn II with foldable screen, and also very thin. Dual screen Android device called Kyocera Echo was an interesting device, although it didn't seem to catch on very well.

I would say that is more bendable than foldable... Still pretty cool though! I definitely would not put this one in my pocket though. I think screens will be rolled up to fit in an attached cylinder or something in future, or just be projected visually.

I wonder how sturdy those things are. Will they survive a drop of even a couple of feet?

Yes, that is a good point.

I think you can't use a cover on these things (well, it needs to be flexible and I like those sturdy ones to protect from accidental drops )

Maybe a leather cover will work, but they aren't that protective....

Man I'd like to have one - but not $1900+ U.S. worth!

Yes. 1900 USD makes you think... It may be one of the most expensive smartphones! Excluding those real gold plated modded ones, haha.

I hope more and more of these types come from Japanese makers.

I cringed every time he bent that. It seems so unnatural.

Yeah, it's kind of bewildering to see a display get bent at such an angle. It will almost seem to "snap" any instant.
I wonder how long it will last without getting it broken...

Wasn't it Einstein who said the definition of insanity was doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results? Did anyone else notice that no matter how many times the guy closed and opened that thing, there still wasn't a physical keyboard?

lol! you need another different bendable place that has physical keyboard.
(so it folds in three parts)

Long live Handheld PCs!
