Hi! I was wondering if the serial sync cable (DB9) for Jornada 720 could be connected to PC with USB converted? This is the link to converter: Serial male to USB converter.
The description of the item says that Palm PC can be connected. But I don't know about Jornada 720. Furthermore, even If I was able to connect Jornada 720 using that USB converter, could I use regular Sync app to exchange files? Thank you!

You can use a USB > Serial adapter. It's just a driver for a virtual COM port. ActiveSync doesn't care if it's physical or virtual.

Hi C:Amie,
thank you for your response. You said 'use a USB > Serial adapter'. Is it the same adapter I posted above or different? Can you, please, provide an eBay link just as an example.

What is difference between your link and mine? Do they work only one way? will I need both of them to work two ways? e.g. PC to Jornada 720 and vice versa.

Jornada > Serial cable > USB adapter > PC.

I didn't see your link. Looks about right.

Are they the same or this is one way only?

They are all a much of a much, until you get to ones that have onboard device profile memory.

The really cheap ones don't work or won't last though. Avoid.

They all look alike, but they don't all work alike. I have several that don't work well or at all. I think it has something to do with the hardware control chip built into the adapter.

One that works flawlessly for me is the Sabrent SBT-USC1M

Do an eBay search, you'll see it for about $10
