Max CF size for NEC MobilePro 900?

I have a related question: the CF cards for sale these days (2019) tend to be oriented toward higher speeds and most use UDMA7 which claims to be backwards compatible but that doesn't necessarily mean they are compatible with Win CE3 (NEC MobilePro 900).

If anything actually meets the UDMA standard, it has to be backwards compatible. Even with PIO I believe.

Thank you. I looked in the NEC MobilePro 900 manual and it says nothing about whether it is UDMA compatible. There are a few CF vards available online that do not says UDMA7 but I don't know if that means they are UDMA <7 or what.

CE 4 is capable of it, whether the NEC is or not. I honestly can no longer remember. Rich Hawley can probably tell you.

If you can do a speed test, you can bench mark it: If it is over 25MB/s it is running as DMA66. If it is 25MB/s or under it is inconclusive as it is either PIO4 (25MB/s) or DMA33 (16MB/s).
