The ESP8266 SLIP firmware looks great! Perfect would be making it configurable with via a simple website, which should be simple enough as is pretty much an essential part of a lot of ESP firmwares!

If anyone is willing to donate me a Jornada 720 serial cable I’ll be up for the task. Instead of a website, the best way to configure it would be through AT commands. Then it is possible to create an HPC app with a nice guy that talks to the device under the hood and configures it automatically. The app can also show available WiFi networks nearby and allow you to pick and connect to one.
