| Sadly all my handhelds are about 1000km away right now, but I'm currently writing a little "translator" that makes news.ycombinator.com accessible for old devices, mostly for getting into php a bit.
I'm just not sure which character encodings PIE on CE2.11/CE3.0 supports, can anyone help me out? Documentation on old PIE versions is hard to find!

| Windows CE is a Unicode OS, so provided that the OS itself has the fonts, technically anything beneath that.
I *think* that the English variants of PIE defaulted to iso-8859-1 where possible, where as the JP release would default to UTF-8.
