| Hi!
I have NetBSD on my J720 and i think it is the best option for a modern OS on the Jornada. Are here any other NetBSD users?
Currently i have NetBSD 8.1 installed on a 32GB CF Card. Together with a few programs i need for my work.
At the moment i work on a RAM upgrade to 128MB. You can read about that in my other thread. To get this working i need to change some things in the hpcboot.exe. Maybe someone can help me with that!
Bye

| It's good to find another NetBSD user!
I have booted and compiled simple programs on Sigmarion 1 with NetBSD 7.99.
It works great, but since Sigmarion 1 only has 1x Compact Flash I am thinking of a way to communicate via serial cable.
I've been thinking to do it, but I've been busy with other stuff.
Good luck on 128MB RAM for J720! (sigmarion-1-NetBSD.jpg)Attachments ---------------- sigmarion-1-NetBSD.jpg (45KB - 4 downloads) |

| Hi.
Nice little machine!
There is a project out there that makes it possible to connect over RS232 to Wifi. https://github.com/8bit-bruno/WiFiModem
I work currently on a cross-compile environment for the Jornada on my 86_64 machine. Because compiling big programs on the Jornada isnt that funny ... |

| Hi!
I have compiled a few programs/tools/games and libraries for NetBSD/hpcarm 8.1 . Maybe someone can use the packages.

Thanks for the github link. I'll put it into my to-do list for the future. |

| _dev-null, what sorts of programs are you running on NetBSD? Does it run X? What about suspend? |

| Hi!
Yes it runs X. I used fluxbox as desktop environment. I used Mutt (Mail), SSH, rdesktop (M$ Remotedesktop), avrdude, vnc, vpnc (VPN), python and for writing text. Suspend works. But not as battery saving as with WinCE...
It is much more useable as the old WinCE!

| Thanks. Yes, I had JLime working on my 720 but it was so out of date that I didn't bother with it.
I assume the NetBSD system is all up-to-date?
Which have you found to be more useable, NetBSD or the Debian update you have been working on? |

| Hi!
NetBSD 8.1 is up to date and there are many pre-compiled applications available! I think that also NetBSD 9 works on the Jornada, but i did not try the new version.
I have compiled a few applications and libraries that are not available pre-compiled http://www.sp-net.at/nextcloud/s/iofRdEk3B8LTgHs
Everything else has to be compiled via pkgsrc!
Currently NetBSD is far more usable than my Debian experiments ...
Bye

| It looks like there are no 9.0 NetBSD pre-compiled packages on hpcarm. Incredibly, they did not seem to bother with compiling any amd64 ones either!

| Figure the maintainers of mpcarm and other chips are waiting for a slow weekend to sit down and compile a bunch of packages.
I'm waiting on hpcmips for an IBM Z50

| Hi Stefan, thanks for uploading the packages for NetBSD/hpcarm! I have been trying to get the cross-compilation going for hpcsh unsuccessfully. Do you think you still have your mk.conf and / or memories of the process? |
