Have fun, I had fun making this, as I wanted to get some use out of my MacSE. Every piece of TECH needs to have a “Killer App”, the reason you pick it up and use it. Here’s my list for example:

- Macintosh SE: The whole Steve Jobs intro, let’s get Macintosh to speak for it’s self… “… it sure is great to get out of that Bag, Never trust a computer you can’t carry… Thanks to Steve who’s been like a father to me”, haha

- HP48SX Calculator: I wrote an Amortization Schedule that will list your Mortgage on the screen and let you scroll through it.

- NeXTStation: Librarian, and reading the entire Bible into Sound.app that saves .snd files. It’s still has great sound

- Macintosh Classic: This was a fish bowl, till too many Beda’s died, now it’s just a clock, check out the cutout and fun I did with this one:

https://tublrbersky.tumblr.com/post/618190108533915648/repurposing-a...

- PowerBook 180c: This guy is a bridge machine, allowing me to use Single, Double Density Floppy disk that can read/write contents to modern floppy drives and drives of machines like Macintosh SE

- Newtons: Ah they are just AWESOME! The experience is just the killer thing about it. When I bought one of these guys, I just bought it for a vintage device, not thinking I was going to use it. Just to put it in my collection. But I ended up using it for 9 months, till I had to upgrade and use it more. POWERFUL! A device I just wanted to have as part of a collection, and it became something I could not LIVE without!

- Palms: Ah well, they are nice, not really useful, I do keep track of which Book, Chapter if the Bible I’m done reading, and it has nice checklists

- HP620LX PalmTop: This guy has MS Pocket Access, so I wrote an MS Access Database to get my finances from my bank, and do a whole bunch of analysis, graphic, categorizing, etc all that good stuff, and I’m able to see those tables on the PalmTop. Some limited graphs too. This was an interesting development, as you can’t store the share volume of data on it, so I had to create “DataMarts” to store the aggregated analyses data. I do this sort of stuff for work, It was almost a project that helped me understand and hone my skills, haha. I still do this transfer/syncing every month. I actually had to PHONE Microsoft to activate my Virtual Box Windows XP machine. Haha

- Power Mac, iMac, etc.: Classic mode to be able to transfer files from old-school to new world, plus they are just cool, the Hardware and Software!

Got any screenshots of this 620LX app?

Microsoft Money was available for the H/PC, I made sync engines for newer versions of Microsoft Money on the desktop back in the day. Good times.

Thanks for sharing!

Looks good...

Just to make sure I'm clear.....

Are the first 3 screenshots from the 620LX and the next 3 are from your VirtualBox?

I download the entries from my bank, and then run a macro on my Excel sheet, then import the Excel sheet into MS Access on Windows XP VirtualBox. Then I have macros or code in MS Access to import the latest entries, putting them into categories. Then with the macros/code I update the data mart tables (aggregated values, that HP 620LX can handle), then I sync with ActiveSync and voila.

I also have neat charts on MS Access

Now that's commitment! I read an article recently about MS trying to lure away people from MS Access, since it still enjoys a lot of popularity among home users and small businesses that have relied on it for a long time!

MS had a great thing with Jet (Access), revolutionary and extremely flexible. For them to want to replace it with the monster that is SQL Server was a laughable aspiration. They should have migrated it to WID and innovated the front end UI. Instead they basically ignore it

Yup I remember being MS Access VBA programmer and then trying to take it online. There was nothing to follow from MS access nada zilch nothing, so what I ended up doing was finding a solution called “Alpha Five” and that was amazing. But too bad access couldn’t follow on from that because I had a golden solution!
