Hi all,

Has anyone had any luck on getting this working on either machine?

I have tried every executable available.

On the 900, I've tried:
HPC2000 OS with standard GAPI: (setup complete - hard freeze - need to reinsert batteries)
HPC2000 OS with 4.04 GAPI: cannot find WAD
CENET 4.2 OS with standard GAPI: Setup complete then access violation
Cmonex Custom 4.2 v.2 OS with standard GAPI: crash on Setup complete, access violation

In the readme, it says there's currently an issue with the 770, so I assume this also means there's an issue with the 780.

My folders are set up as:
\Storage Card\HPC Doom
-DOOM.WAD
-HPC Doom.exe
-Doom4CE.wad
-doom1_xm.wad

Or \HPC Doom

I've followed this Jornada-based thread:

https://www.hpcfactor.com/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=17806&st...

and the readme, but no luck

Any assistance would be appreciated.

I have similar issues on my Jornada 720 as well. I was able to run Doom only once, and I don't remember what the config was. It randomly stopped working afterwards. It goes through initial setup, decompressing files, looking like the game is loading, but right before it actually starts the game crashes with access violation.

Thanks for chiming in, it's a shame that there are so few active CE developers remaining. I often wonder if there are any easy-to-use tools to compile open source code on HPCs.

Regardless, just got it working on my 770.

Used the following setup:

\Storage Card\HPC Doom
+Hpc Doom.exe
+doom.wad
+doom1_xm.wad
+Doom4CE.wad
+HPC Doom.txt

\Storage Card\HPC Doom\GAPI for HPCs
+EULA.txt
+GAPISetup.exe

I doubt whether installing GAPI onto the CF had any bearing on the success of it, as it can be moved between mobilepro 770/780 and works just fine on both. So, it's a bit of a head-scratcher. I used the Doom_mips.zip binary from SCL here.

There are some options

There's always eVC++ as well if you can be bothered to let it Microsoft-ify everything

Browsing through the developers' forum, it appears there's no shortage of enthusiasm and scope for new CE development. Wish it were easier to learn for those of us with limited experience.
