I will be upgrading to this in the coming days.

Have you tried https://www.oo-software.com/en/shutup10

Don't forget that you need to update Windows every year otherwise they stop patching you. These fan projects are great until the reality of all the manual labour sets in.
I do not want shutup10, I want a final (for the few years) solution. This project claims that vast majority of vulnerabilities can be mitigated by removing admin rights from the user account. I did not evaluate this claim thoroughly but I like other benefits of this project plus my usage style exposes very small attack surface so I do not see a problem with absence of patches.

I admire your faith in Microsoft's ability to write secure code

Hey! I liked 2004- 20H2 despite being just an 'enablement package' a la 1903-1909 works better than 2004 in my experience. But hey, I'm running extremely limited hardware.

The latest Power Toys looks like a redeeming grace. Open source is the way to go.

I love the feature where Win10 bluescreens when I use a USB-serial adapter. The idea that a serial driver can tank the OS is ludicrous..

That's a feature, it's to let you know it's time to upgrade.

In all seriousness though, it could be caused by an electrical short, I'd check that.

Have you used the new Microsoft terminal
App? That one looks cool

It's reproducible across several adapters with the same chipset. Might be a buffer overflow in the driver code or something, because it blue screens when a large amount of serial data is being pushed from the device to the comuter (displaying a router/switch config, etc.)

I took the hint and upgraded. To a ~2008 Latitude E-series laptop with Ubuntu. Serial adapter has worked great ever since

Oh, no, the script broke my VirtualBox set up with BSOD! I had to revert to the restore point.

Sorry, to hear this....

Did you read the comments on the webpage....worked for some people, but a lot of people posted about various issues they had with the script......
