I've just bought a Psion Teklogix Netbook Pro, complete with Cisco 340 wifi card, and I'm interested to see what can be achieved on this little netbook in 2020.

I have a Cisco 350 wifi card on order, plus an Ambicom bluetooth CF card, so hopefully I will be able to connect through WPA at home and use my phone for bluetooth tethering while out.

I had a Jornada pocket PC years ago but have forgotten most of what I learnt, so expect a few questions once I start to get to grips with CE again.

Cheers

Hugh

Thanks for the welcome

I'm from Kent, and not really looking forward to dropping my router to WEP (although it's highly unlikely anyone will try and hack into my network) while I await the rest of the connecting bits

Cheers

Hugh

Welcome and congrats on your acquisition of one of the top notch HPCs!

I've been here just for a month and found a whole new territory to explore here.

When I last did this, I piggybacked an old WEP router off of my up-to-date router. That way I could just shut off the WEP connection after I was done with it.

Running a compatible ethernet card from the jack of a wifi extender will get you on line at your current level of security. No WEP needed but less mobility around the house.

Welcome,
Jake

Thanks everyone

I usually sit close to our router so I'll probably look in the hardware database here for a compatible ethernet card.

Cheers

Good luck! I run my card from an extender behind my desk.

Something like this would allow a bit more mobility in the home, but clunkier, I guess.

I’ve never seen those in Japan or elsewhere. Very cool.

How about using the Ravpower Filehubs for full speed access and up-to-date security, i.e. Router/Hotspot --(wifi)--> Filehub --(ethernet)--> HPC?

Yes, if I'm understanding the hardware correctly, you'd enter your ISP id/password into the Ravpower, it gets you on-line through your ISP, then you connect your ethernet.

Does the Ravpower play nice with US and other countries' ISPs? I seem to remember that Verizon, for example, only let you use their routers. But that may have changed...

My AmbiCom WL54-CF has arrived, installed the drivers, and after a little fettling with the router I now have internet on the netbook through WPA
The seller of the AmbiCom BT2000-CF bluetooth card, however, has sent me a BT2000D-CF, and I'm currently awaiting an exchange from them. For a professional retro gadget shop they didn't seem to know the difference

Cheers
