One thing worth trying is installing PocketDOS on a compact flash card on the Jornada 720 (or any other ARM HPC) and then insert the card on the SigIII, hex edit the binary and check if it runs

You can also try PocketDOS on Sigmarion I & II, which I am going to do real soon.

Testing PocketDOS on Sigmarion II now.

I copied the CABs to a CF card (since I don't have the serial sync cable). Then run the CABs directly from the card. Install the CABs in this order:

(1) PocketDOS.mips_hpcpro.CAB
(2) PocketDOS_DOSFS.mips.CAB
(3) PocketDOS_UTILITY.CAB
(4) PocketDOS_HELP.CAB
(5) FREEDOS_100.CAB

Interestingly I seem to feel that Sigmarion II runs a bit snappier than Jornada 720. I am going to find out more by running some simple benchmarking tests, which will show up as part of my upcoming comparative review of Sigmarion II and Jornada 720.

Since Sigmarion II can run PocketDOS, Sigmarion I will also do without issues.

I attach the MIPS files here for anyone interested to try it out.

Do you happen to have the "registered user addon" that is sent to you once you purchase a license?
It says on the site:
"When you register PocketDOS you should be sent an email containing an unlock code and a URL for downloading the registered user add-on."

I have a license from a while ago but never got the addon. If so could you possibly upload it?
Thank you

I've never run PocketDOS but does it work with the dial-up modem?

If so, it'd be interesting to see if NetTamer

http://www.nettamer.net/tamer.html

would be productive.

Or can NetTamer work with ethernet/wifi? Or can PocketDOS? I don't know either program.

Jake

Is the publisher of pocketdos still allowing people to pay cash for the full unlocked version? Pocketdos.com doesn't seem to work anymore?

ok just figured out the install and tried prince of persia. It works! BUT no sound. Anybody know if pocketdos supports sound on the jornada? I assume I have to get the driver and then edit the autoexec?

Ah, figured out that the little start button within pocketdos allows you to configure the sound. Something interesting I came across. Somebody wrote an album to play through the IBM PC speaker. http://shiru.untergrund.net/music.shtml the album is called System Beeps and is available as an MS-DOS program (release 2019). Pretty cool hearing it through dos. Just played it on the HP 200LX, very neat, "head step" is probably one of the better tracks on there. Check it out for sh*ts and giggles.

I emailed them about their plans a couple of weeks back to see if they were still trading or would consider open sourcing or releasing it as exemptionware to the community. I've heard nothing.

I'd raise a support request here: https://www.mycommerce.com/shopper-support/
