Absolutely, here it is:
https://mega.nz/folder/UZ1S0TrC#SPdeVesbpTHleJI0UtC5yw
It was installed as separate boot and root partitions. I used dd to archive and save them as .img files. There's a root user and a www user, so I'm guessing it ran/could run some sort of web service but I haven't looked into it. The root user's music folder has a couple scripts that play internet radio stations, not sure if either of those things come standard with Jlime or were from the previous owner.

Hi!
Short update - I got in touch with Arnd Bergmann, for now the Jornada 72x is not removed from the Linux kernel sources. Sadly I got absolutely no time to work on this - maybe someone else can try to get 5.x kernels running on the Jornada - it is definetly something in the Jornada specific code - other SA-1110 systems boot up with no problem.

Quote

Stefan is still trying to get this machine working again, so it won't
be removed in this round.

Does anyone have a mirror of the kernel 3.16.81 files as referenced on https://www.sp-net.at/doku.php?id=jornada_j720 ?

Also looking for the files mentioned at https://www.sp-net.at/doku.php?id=jornada_j720_devuanlinux and Bootloader, Kernel and Debian 9 / Devuan 2.1 rootfs.

Not sure if this is all in the files at https://nextcloud.sp-net.at/s/SQbqbX64QdZarop?path=%2Fkernel3.16.81 or not.

Apologies for posting to an old thread and thanks in advance!

Yes the files are all in there (click the "Download all files" button).

Where can the "Download all files" button be found??

The github repository appears to contain the source which is great, but...

I'd like to find the original kernel, modules, and rootfs as compiled by @_dev-null (Stefan)

I think you can download the whole repository, just click on the green "Code" button and "Download Zip" under that. It has the kernel folder and stuff in it, so. (For source code)

I tried the link for the kernel (3.16.81) from here: https://www.sp-net.at/doku.php?id=jornada_j720_devuanlinux
It takes a while to load, but there is a button on the top right for "Download all files".

From your link - https://nextcloud.sp-net.at/s/SQbqbX64QdZarop?path=%2Fkernel3.16.81

Look in the upper right corner. If you're on PC the button should just appear, on a phone you have to press the menu button as shown in my screenshot.

Whoa! I swear I clicked those links a hundred times but it was a 404

Anyway thanks for the patience, I get worried any time important links like these go dead. The nextcloud thing doesn't appear to be indexable by the archive.org.

Hi guys,

I'm coming back to this after being absent from the HPC/Linux world for a while. I finally managed to replace the RAM chips on my J720 ROM board so that it now has 128MB, and then decided to try Linux again as that's is the only way to make use of the extra RAM. I downloaded the latest build from https://nextcloud.sp-net.at/s/SQbqbX64QdZarop?path=%2F and everything worked great (except that on params.txt I had to change "sda" with "hda" in my case). The kernel recognized my full 128MB upgrade and the system is a lot smoother from what I remember. Next step was to go online with it. I tried all my cards (aironet 340, belkin f5d6020 and linksys wpc 11 with prism chip) but none of them worked. I saw that the modules are present on the rootfs, but when I insert the card it can't load any of the modules complaining about missing symbols. It seems that this latest kernel wasn't compiled with support for those modules or some other missing link between them.

I then went on my archives and found a specific kernel version that @_dev-null compiled for me here: https://www.hpcfactor.com/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=18740&st... with built-in aironet drivers. This kernel worked great with my aironet card, and also did work with my linksys prims card as well. I didn't change anything on the rootfs, just replaced the kernel on the FAT partition. I'm wondering if I'm missing anything on the instructions for this newer kernel or if is actually not working with the WiFi cards. Are you guys experiencing the same problem?

Also, is there a place where I can upload my working kernel copy? SCL maybe?

Hi everyone, I am happy to report that I was able to install and run Linux on a J720 and also a J728 using the images that are compiled here(also linked in the very first post in this thread):
https://www.hpcfactor.com/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=20175&po...

Everything works great, and thanks to joval for the images, and for the hard work that has gone in making this great capability available.

I notice that linux runs a bit faster in the J728.

Ethernet card (I have Sohoware) works great and it is cool to get access to modern web sites using Netsurf.

Also, wifi cards (aironet 340/350, Orinoco Gold and Linksys WPC11) all work OK, but only on open connections (no WPA/WPA2), so that is a limitation. Joval's workaround (using a ethernet card tethered to a wireless extender) works great though. Also, tethering via ethernet to a Raspberry Pi works well.

Great to have linux and be able to play around with it; I am still rusty on remembering unix commands :-)

Thanks all!

I’m curious if you’ve tried the following:
WPA1-TKIP network
WPA1-AES network
WPA1/WPA2 Mixed Network

By the way, thanks for the update! That’s some great results. Glad it’s working great for you

Thank you!

I haven't tried these network configurations but I think none of these cards work with any WPA options. Happy to see if any gurus out there have any suggestions I may try with these cards.

Thanks again!
