| Hey all! I just recently picked up a Jornada 720 at a garage sale, and now that I've toyed with it a bit, I was thinking about trying to develop for it. Was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for starting out writing software for it. Thanks! | |

| As a CE3 device, one of the easiest ways would be to use the .NET Compact Framework and Visual Studio 2003, which lets you use C#. Really easy to get going with, unlike a lot of other ways to write code to run on a Windows CE device; it's a lot like writing a modern C# program and if you're already familiar with that, there's very little learning curve.
VS2003 is paid software though, so you're on your own to find a copy, and I don't know how hard it would be to use a different compiler to target the cut-down .NET runtime used on Windows CE. | |
