Moved to Handheld PC 2000

We have literally dozens of threads discussing this exact question. Two things you can do to find more information:

1) Search the forums in this section (the 720 runs Handheld PC 2000, not Windows CE 2.0 where this thread was originally posted) with the keywords "best wireless card" (or something similar), which should direct you to lots of discussion of this topic.

2) Check our Hardware Compatibility List (selecting the category Networking -> Wireless Network Cards) for cards compatible with H/PC 2000 devices:

You can use Orinoco Gold and Cisco Aironet 340 or 350. They both work well with the J720, although browsing today's websites is very limited due to software and resources.

Except for the Aironet 340 which works with J720 stock (built in ROM) software, these all work but require specific software and drivers-- (Lucent/Agere or Prism: available in the downloads section of HPC:Factor. Lucent, Orinoco, and Agere are essentially clones and use the same Lucent software/drivers; similarly Netgear, Linksys and others are Prism based cards.

I would suggest going with a card that has a prism chipset. In case you want to go with Linux on your Jornada, prism cards are currently the best option as they can support WPA (which means it can connect to modern WiFi networks) after a firmware upgrade. All the other options mean you’ll get stuck with no encryption at all or basic and broken WEP encryption
