Nice work. Still did you try to install v8 again? You have to pick right platform in options, last tab chose right arm version arm v4 for jornada I think. I made wrong choice and cab was installed but could not run app. After choosing windows mobile (WM platform in options) it run smootlly on hp Ipaq 214.

| Yes, I tried all possible options on v8. The cpu architecture is correct, but the executable is compiled for a different WinCE API, therefore it fails. Your iPaq runs WM 6, that’s why it runs in it |

Is someone willing to compile a definitive set of files, keys etc for each version (IDE installer + runtime installer + other + keys + docs & API ref) that is now available in the public domain and we'll add it all to the SCL so that this is easier for people in the future? I'll take that as a no then |

Andrej2112 said he would, right after my reverse engineering post. Check his post |

I have free time so tell me exactly what to do. But you should know that software is picked up from wayback machine so some files are there and some are not. There is version 7 but still we don't have files for. I have version 5 and 6 off course v8 is open source, 7 is missing yet. andrej2112, I'm very sorry, I completely missed your reply there! My apologies
If you are still game, perhaps you would be willing to either assemble the links I need for the files v5, 6, 7, 8 (etc ), or the files and keys and I'll get them added to the SCL with you attributed for the submission for some badge kudos |

BTW: The IDE is more or less the standard text editor without any fancy programmers functions and the menue is extended to RUN a program.
Even the classy Borland-C1.0 was more comfortable - but besides that it is really nice to have.
I don't know about v5, but I just installed v6 IDE on my Jornada and it is actually quite nice! The main screen is just a text editor, nothing fancy. But on the menus you can find a lot of stuff, one of them is the Visual Designer. It allows you to create forms and add controls right on your device! It is quite cool really. In just a few minutes I put together a Hello World app with labels and buttons on the device itself. |

I tried the installer on my older HP 320lx as supposedly NS Basic supports WinCE 2.0 as well. The installer runs fine, but for some reason I cannot validate the program with the serial number. I used the same installer package (on PC) for both Jornada 720 and HP 320lx. When I opened NS Basic on the Jornada is asked for the serial, I entered and it registered right away. For the HP320lx, when I opened it, it said that the software was not registered and couldn't run. I then ran the BASIC Installer script that is dropped on the device, which opened a small program to register NS Basic. I inserted the serial in there, tap OK, but then when I tried running NS Basic again it said that the serial was invalid (?!?). I checked and rechecked the serial multiple times, and still can't figure out what is wrong. Has anyone succeeded in installing NS Basic v6 on WinCE 2.0? |

SUCCESS! For some weird reason, NS Basic v6 on WinCE2.0 SH3 has a different serial. Even though the IDE on the Desktop PC had to be registered with L55-400-93W, the IDE on the device was registered with the old 3000003 serial. The same v6 on the Jornada, on the other hand, was registered with the same serial as the Desktop PC, L55-400-93W |

You were faster Badge to you!
Yes, serial is 3000003 for my ericsson mc16 win CE 2.0
C:Amie
Same thing what can NSbasic on device, you could do it with PockeC, amazing too, only difference is you have to use api wrapping for network and other more complicated libraries, on NSB you already have BASIC controls and components, richer pallette...
With waybackmachine I have downloads for all platforms PocketC. Are you willing to give one more badge? Edited by andrej2112 2021-10-14 11:20 AM
