Great! Finally have Zram swap working... effectively increases RasPi Zero 2 Ram from 512Mb to 1.47Gb.

Just needed to learn how to increase Zero2 swapfile size using dphys-swapfile commands to stop swap. Then nano edit /etc/dphys-swapfile and increase size from 100 to 1024 and save, then turn swap on.

This is after installing Novaspirit github Zram fix. Internet FM Music and posting working much better now!

also, using vncviewer with -scaling Fit (not FitWidth) which compresses the vertical axis so no scrolling needed... not quite so nice as Firefox which maintians aspect ratio, but more convenient for posting.

Zram makes a big difference!

FYI
I am writing this using the RasPi Zero2 which is being powered from the Jornada 720 using power leads soldered to the capacitor +/_ contacts located under the keyboard (per Stefan's usb project)!

So, we now are capable of unifying both as a single compact unit powered by the jornada battery or AC plug!!! Might have shorter battery life somewhat I have to test it out.

Turning on the Jornada turns on the Zero2 and off does like wise. I will have to put a switch in the circuit to turn off Zero2 when not needed. This is cool!

The modification is really simple to do, similar to ROM upgrade, plenty of room to solder small wires, done in a minute or so. May consider a voltage spike protector in the circuit later (per Stefan's usb power protection).

This is a major breakthrough IMO, still uses WPA wifi card via home router to connect to Zero2. Now wondering if I can find enough internal room to sneek that little critter into the innards some where, certainly can be attached to the wifi card or back side of screen!

Oh, happy Day!

That thing would really rock with the Zero 2! But, pretty much an HP in name only... case and keyboard only.

Threw 'baby' WinCE out with the bath water!

Now listening to Audible book as I post this. Screen controls work well after I changed the increments.

Using 'RealVNCviewer' that comes loaded on the Zero2 and X-forwarded to J72(8)... couldn't be easier and gives full RasPi desktop compressed to fit jornada screen! Runs any debian app/program AFAIK.

Tiny Zero2 needs: micro-usb cell phone charger 2 0r 3 amp, mini-hdmi adapter (not micro-hdmi as on Pi4)
and micro-usb to female usb adapter... about $4 Amazon each. Has Quad core at 1GHz, 512Mb Ram only (use zram fix to increase) Note: no ethernet, no audio jack, but has video out.case optional about 5 bucks.
That's it! They sell 'kits' for about $44

RasPi 4 quad core 1.4 MHz.. faster, cost 35-45 bucks, can change hdmi resolution without required reboot (required with RasPi 3B+, 4Gb Ram std. Has ethernet 1000, usb 3 and 2, audio jack, camera port too, requires usb 3 power supply 3amp. Case 10 bucks ..Kits run 80 to 90 bucks, included internal fan.

RasPI 3B+ cost $30 - 35, micro-usb cell phone type power supply 3 amp best, has ethernet 100, usb2, needs reboot on screen resolution change,Quad core 1.3 GHz... can overclock though, IGb Ram only std, std hdmi out, audio jack , camera port.

So, each is quad core, wifi, bluetooth, and has camera port

There you go... now you can make an educated choice!

best mi amigo,

I thought that was really cool. It will be interesting if somebody tried to make one with monochrome display or e-paper without the refresh rate problem.

Hi Stefan!
Thanks for your excellent work! Ok, will do as soon as I learn how to install modules (anyone out there please offer tips).

I think you're going to be impressed with the RasPi Zero2. It can actually be powered by the Jornada similar to how your usb upgrade hack is... the capacitor under the keyboard works as power source!

All the best, Herr Maestro!

You dont have to install them. Just download the 3.16.81 folder and put it into /lib/modules. Remove the existing 3.16.81 folder before you do that.

Glad I asked, thanks again! That's easy... will get right to it!

How much faster would you estimate the patch is over the emulation, any downsides?

Wondering if we can get Zram to work on stock J720 (Not only Zero2) to improve on low 32Mb Ram. Maybe 64 and 128 Mb's too. New challenge there if interested... since....IMO, you're the Miracle worker and Top magician!

Hi All!
We have finally arrived... J720 + Zero2... self contained, all powered by J720 battery. Take a look at "how to." Zero2 exposed as demo...can be mounted under J720 or under wifi card or top side of screen case, etc. Yes!!!

Yep, easy peasy, but they are plugged together mid way so can be detached or disabled... draws very little power compared to J720 + screen + wifi. Here it it with its case cover. Bluetooth Pod Speaker next to it. That's a stock case... IMO can be made much smaller in size so less conspicuous. Poor Man's Cosmo?
