Handheld PC Optimized Hacker News

Here's a little side-project! I like reading Hacker News, but their site - despite the simple design - wasn't properly working on my Jornada 720, so I pieced this together using their API plus a PHP port of Firefox'readability, which strips down pages of unnecessary stuff! It also downscales and converts images!

Apart from the missing navigation, it even minifies here http://news.ohnitsch.net/read.php?url=https://www.hpcfactor.com too.

Readability is a pretty sweet pile of code! I added some DOM manipulation for making it better suited for CE, but not much really.

Of course the caveat is that it is 100% made for extracting articles from websites, so it will specifically discard any navigation elements.
Maybe someone will do a fork sometime that also tries to preserve navigation elements.

There used to be this Google thing that would strip down pages for display on very basic browsers, like the Palm OS one, I forgot what it was called though.
