First of all: I used the search function because I'm sure I read about this issue somewhere, but can't find anything anymore, and also don't remember how to fix it.

Issue is: my plugged in J720 wakes up at midnight and stays on for a while after that. There's a network card in there right now, might that be the issue?

I searched the forum, and apparently there's a bug on Windows CE devices, and WiFi cards may also be the reason.

The user in this thread said it fixed the Jornada 728 with MP900's update called PWR_MGT.

Further digging on Google provided this:

I advise you to backup before trying, it may mess up your Jornada 720.

All CE devices with POOM installed fire a job at midnight on the local clock in order to update the calendar for the next period. Some devices had a polling schedule patch issues like https://www.hpcfactor.com/downloads/1644/Power_Management_Update however short of removing Outlook, the device will always do it once the databases are initialised.

So how long is a while? It should just idle itself back to sleep again.
