Hey y’all so anyways, I was thinking of buying a hp jornada. I don’t care which number of model it is but then I didn’t like the jornada at first because of the sync issues I had with windows 98 se so anyways should I give a 2nd chance with the jornada?

Maybe.
Honestly, my J680 doesn't have the sync cable at all, files go on/off entirely via external storage, and the 680 has a built-in backup utility to restore the stuff on the RAM disk from a file for if you lose all power to the device, so it hasn't quite felt essential. However, there are still a few programs where the installer has to run on a computer and be synced over (PocketDOS kind of has this issue, although you can extract the files from the installer with 7-Zip).
Still, I also have the advantage of having an SD card reader in the PC-Card slot -- the 680 has a built in spot for CF cards immediately under the PC-Card slot, but it's also super, super flimsy and awkward, you're expected to just leave the card in there instead of swapping it out.

You'll also probably want an ARM-based device like the Jornada 720, since it can run more software and they're faster.
From a development point of view, the tooling is also way better (there is GCC support for ARM-based CE devices).

Unless your needs are very limited, and/or the time you want to invest, I would get a 720 or 728. For one thing, the 64mb module of the 728 will fit the 720, so you have future expansion. More available software, I think, for ARM, and if you takes a glance at the threads here, there is a lot of Linux, etc development for the 720, and not as much for others.

re: your syncing issues--with a 720 and 64-bit Win10, you will be able to sync with WMDC/patches and a 32-bit Outlook (2010 and below, I believe).

If you want to stick with SH3, though, you still might consider getting a 690, which comes stock with more RAM (32 MB versus 16 MB in the 680).

Oh, and one thing I ended up doing for sync (with my LG Phenom at least) was just using a Windows 2000 VM in VirtualBox and attaching my serial port to it, which also solves the issue of running installers that have 16-bit portions and don't just give you some .CAB files to copy to the device manually.

It's more about what you want to do with, surely, than just us throwing model numbers at you?

What are your expectations / needs?

The MP900/900C, while a bit bigger has the stronger keyboard, is faster and can offer you more in that regard. Especially for video. Otherwise, you are better off with a 728 than any SH3 device as they really won't cope with video.

Unless that includes the upgrade to 2.11, and even so, I imagine you'll miss the opportunities of HPC2000, nor will you be able to sync w/ Win10/WMDC. Do you have a 32-bit Outlook installed on the desktop?
