Jornada 728 locks when viewing Pocket PC EXE - Why?

I'm trying to run mobifusion Dataviewer (a Pocket PC app) which runs fine on MobilePro 900c with cmonex 2.0 firmware. I have installed RedGear on my Jornada 728 but when I view the directory containing DataViewer.exe with Resco File Explorer, Total Commander or the default file explorer the Jornada locks up. Also when disabling RedGear this happened. I also can't use ExecutabilityCheck because I can't choose the excecutable (also locks my system up/crash).

Why is this? Is Windows CE doing some check in the background? Maybe manually add some DLL in the \Windows directory (aygshell.dll?)

UPDATE: aygshell.dll did the trick. It's running fine now. Still wondering why my system locks up when viewing a directory with a excecutable in it.

Must be because it tries to extract the icon from EXE file. I guess there would be no such problem if you disabled custom EXE icons.

Yes, it'll be the icon colour depth. Use a resource editor to delete the high-res icons and it'll load.

Thanks! This is indeed the permanent solution. Changing/removing the icon.

For example now I can finally use MS Reader PPC (better then the HPC version) on my Jornada
