I have installed Windows Workgroups 3.11 on the virtual machine. Out of curiosity I would like to try installing the drivers for the USB.
I am trying to use this package:
http://www.georgpotthast.de/usb/
But I can't figure out how to install the whole thing.
Anyone have more experience than me?

Well that is a DOS driver, not a Windows one. So run dosusb.com in DOS in autoexec.bat and
device=c:\dosusb\usbdisk.sys

in config.sys

You need to show us what it says and tell us what you have done / setup if you want assistance. My psychic binary state reading abilities aren't very good these days I'm afraid.

So I run the usbview.exe file and this is what it looks like:

I press 1:

I press Enter:

I press Enter:

After that I reboot the machine and drive D appears But I see it as a floppy.
I click on it and the following message appears:
Not available for reading ... and then it says that the link is missing, or damaged or deleted, etc., etc.

You only need DOS 7 if you want FAT32 support.

The fact that it isn't showing any enumerated devices implies that it isn't reading the controller from the passthrough. Are you certain you've passed through the root controller in full?

Passing through real hardware to a VM is a minefield. You're better off just using real hardware. Once you get the new hard drive setup you can just swap memory cards to do things like that. Nice and easy.
