NVIDIA graphics cards

I was wondering, if one day I wanted to get a higher graphics card than the current one, which of the two would be more suitable for my IBM 330?
Current card matrox mystique 220
Nvidia GeForce 4 TI-4200 or NVIDIA GeForce4 MX420

What do you think of the one I found for sale at a low price? He replaced the fan with a new one, with that long wire ... it's not that convincing me much. But it is the one that costs the least.

I'd just get what I suggested in the other thread and be done with it.

I just asked, what did you think of that replacement, very "do it yourself" made by the person, that's all. XD ^_^
I'm not going to buy anything for now. BUT since the price was so low compared to the other video cards they sell, I wouldn't want there to be a "rip off".

I am thinking the GF4 TI-4200 is over spec for that era? Just my thoughts. I think I paired a GF FX5200 with an Athlon single core that wasn’t 64bit back in 00’s. MX420 has heatsink so it might be a tiny bit quieter and safer

Interesting, point of view, which I hadn't thought of.
Could there also be a power problem? Since the video card is much more recent and therefore very powerful, having such an old power supply might not be able to give energy to all the components?
Also I saw a version of the MX420 with 128MB of ram!

Yeah, you should definitely check the TDP of the graphic card. You're right about sometime the power unit may not be able to handle high wattage. I used to also have GeForce 2 MX400 back in the days...

It’s how much heat CPU or GPU generates under stress, in Watts.

Then I definitely don't meet the requirements! If I'm not mistaken I only have 90W!

For my PowerMac G5 AGP, I am going from the FX 5200 to ATI 9200 and I just bought the 6800 Ultra AGP edition.

Anyway, back on topic, out of curiosity, are you on the 486 version or the Pentium?

That PSU model is supposedly rated for 145W across all outputs...but it's also standard ATX so you're not spoilt for choice.
