Using these drivers:
https://www.matrox.com/en/video/apps/drivers/graphics/previous/files/w9x_682.php
The installer detects and detects the graphics card.
Maybe I understand, it depends on the version of the program or driver. This is actually 6.82.016
The one on the CD is much older than 6.0.

Unfortunately, once the driver is installed correctly the problem remains!

From what I see, in the bios, in the graphics settings we only see the matrox.
There is no setting to disable the integrated video card.

Then unless there is a vBIOS update or a BIOS update, it may be incompatible. The BIOS is supposed to relinquish the bus to the PCI card, but yours isn't.

You can try resetting/updating the BIOS on the Matrox:

Make sure Matrox System Utilities are installed on your computer. (These can be installed from your Matrox CD-ROM.)

Windows 98/Me/2000/XP or NT 4.0 – Click Start Æ Run, type c:\matrox\util\pbioswin,
then click OK. Follow the on-screen instructions.
DOS – Restart your computer in DOS mode, then type:
cd c:\matrox\util [Enter]
upbiosdos [Enter]

Turn off your computer, remove the other graphics card, then plug your monitor into your Matrox graphics card.

Restart your computer.

I was able to install the program. I tried to follow the instructions, but it is not possible to update the bios, due to an error. I noticed that the video card has version 14 - 6 and that of the CD 1.1 - 19.
The strange thing is that it sees on Graphics car model: Matrox G400.

I found a very precise HWINFO program. With this it correctly sees what I have in the PC.
It can be useful for the motherboard.

I will do it tomorrow, if I do an upgrade to windows 98SE, instead of a clean install, shouldn't there be any problems?

So the S3 isn't disabled in hardware, but has been disabled in software, which I thought you said you'd tried manually in 98?

Good morning! No, I manually disabled it from windows. But when I installed windows and installed the drivers the problem was not there.
I wanted to disable it just to be safe.

I understand, the problem. In Windows 95 it does not show up, since during installation you can specify which devices to install.
I remember now, I told him to ignore the integrated card, and to install the generic driver for the Matrox.
Once windows started, I installed the matrox drivers, and when it restarted, only after windows did it automatically install the integrated video card drivers!
This meant that the matrox board was set as the main one and the problem did not arise.
Then for safety I deactivated the integrated card and everything ended well!
Question, in Windows 98 is it possible to do such an installation? Because that option has been removed, but I see that it is very useful to have it, this is a point in favor of Windows 95.

If the S3 is running from an inbox driver, then you would have to remove the inbox driver and disable the device in device manager. You'd need to know what the S3 inf is for that.

Edit: I note that HW info is not reporting the CPU cache. Are you certain that it's enabled properly (could be a limitation of HWInfo, does CPU-Z report it)

Isn't it the L2 Cache entry that reports 512kbtes at the end, which are the new ones I put in?
(for integrated card) I changed the driver for the S3 card. I clicked "Change Driver" in the "General" tab. Manually updated the driver on Standard VGA Adapter. Restarted, then disabled in Device Manager. The problem remained.
I tried to delete the drivers, but then windows installs them automatically, can't abort the installation. I don't even know how to permanently delete these drivers.

I wanted to update windows, but I get a message:
Your computer already has an operating system installed, but it is impossible to update it with this version of the installer. Use the Windows 98 update.
I searched the web for this update in Italian, but I can't find it ....
